At Bestland Dog Boarding and Pet Resort, we know that leaving your dog in someone else’s care is a big decision. Below are some of the most common questions we hear from families who are considering boarding with us.
FAQ
Many people find us while searching for a “dog kennel in Rome, GA,” but Bestland is something different. We’re a warm, family-owned retreat located on a peaceful 40-acre property. We don’t use crates or cages, and our guests stay in a quiet, home-like environment where they receive gentle care and personal attention.
Yes! All dogs are required to come for a meet and greet before their first boarding stay. During this visit, we’ll do a short temperament evaluation to ensure your pup will be safe and comfortable in our care. This step helps us keep a happy, stress-free environment for all of our guests.
We recommend bringing:
- Your dog’s food (pre-portioned if possible)
- Any necessary medications with instructions
- A familiar item like a blanket or toy
- A leash and collar/harness
- Vaccine Records (printed or emailed)
- Complete intake forms (printed or Emailed)
We provide bedding, bowls, and plenty of love — but you’re welcome to bring whatever helps your dog feel most at home.

- Flea and Tick Treatments (current)
- Canine Influenza (recommended)
- Deworming is recommended
Please provide vet records before check-in or upload them through our booking form.
Absolutely. We welcome you to visit and see where your dog will be staying. We find that a visit often puts pet parents at ease — and dogs love checking out the calm, natural surroundings. Just call us to schedule a time.
While our facility is surrounded by a beautiful 40-acre farm, dogs are not free to roam the land. They enjoy outdoor time in secure, supervised areas where they can stretch, sniff, and relax safely.
Dogs in our care follow a calm, consistent routine that includes:
- Regular outdoor time
- Fresh food and water
- Plenty of rest in cozy, crate-free spaces
- One-on-one attention from our family
Because we keep a small group, every dog gets the individualized care they deserve.
We are happy to administer medications as directed. Please bring medications in their original containers, along with clear written instructions. There is no fee for administering one standard oral medication, shots, multiple meds, eye meds and etc. may have fees.
No, We do not board dogs that are a danger to humans or other dogs. We do consider all breeds and sizes, as long as they are friendly with other dog’s and safe around people. Bestland may require or suggest that you bring your dog for daycare if your dog is anxious, temperamental, or has special needs. If your dog has special behavioral needs, please let us know in advance so we can determine the best fit.
Our peaceful setting and low-stress environment often help dogs with separation anxiety feel more at ease. Because we’re not a high-volume facility, we can give anxious dogs the extra time, patience, and one-on-one care they need.
Here at Bestland, We feed twice a day and administer treats to help when dogs dont eat. , along with feed twice a day giving every opportunity for your pet to eat when separation or a new place gets in the way of eating. Please do not be alarmed if your baby skips a meal and know that we are keeping a strong eye on them and supplement.
Here at Bestland, If the issue is minor, We are trained to bandage injuries with our medical equipment and first aid medical bags and contact you to discuss with you what the best plan of care is for your pet whether to seek Veterinarian treatment or in house care. If the issue is major, we will stabilize your pet, seek immediate veterinary care, and contact you. We have partnered with Etowah Animal Hospital for all your pet needs. Our goal is that your pets stay with us was amazing and that they return to normal life. However, sometimes due to your dog missing you alot, playing hard, or feeling stressed, they may drink and or eat alot, throw up, lay around extra tired. Although each situation is different and should be watched carefully please know that these symptoms are not uncommon for dogs who haven’t boarded much with us or anyone. However keep a diligent eye on the matter and see if all clears up within 48-72 hours, otherwise contacting your vet maybe wise.
Yes, not only do we have a central HVAC system, we have 2 additional back up systems that can keep your furbaby cool or heated in the even of one system going down.
